In the film your character has a sex scene with another hero, who, well…
Needs to wear a mask to get it up.

…on the big screen, that is. The star of Watchmen reveals how to get buff, beat the bad guys, and look good in latex (trust us, it ain’t easy)
“OK, there is no way that I am going in there.”
Malin Akerman is sitting in a low-key Los Angeles bakery talking about a charter-boat trip she took in Bora Bora a few months back. A cushy gig, to be sure–until she spotted the fins of some black-tipped sharks slicing through the Pacific waters. “I was so nervous,” she recalls, “I felt like I needed to pee.”
They have come to glimpse the miracle. They have come to witness the revolution. They have come for Watchmen — the allegedly unfilmable superhero movie, the long-awaited adaptation of the comic book that changed the face of comic books forever. On this warm July morning, over 5,000 fans attending the annual geek pop summit known as Comic-Con have assembled inside the San Diego Convention Center for a first look. Many spent the night on the sidewalk. Some have come in costumes — most modeled after Rorschach, a vigilante with an inkblot mask and a pitiless brand of justice that makes Batman look like Bambi. Behind the stage, indie-movie icon Kevin Smith, a.k.a. the Most Famous Fanboy in the World, parks himself in front of a closed-circuit TV, a happy grin on his bearded mug. ”You have to understand, I’ve been waiting for this moment for years,” says Smith. ”This is it, man. This is the pinnacle. You have no idea how f—ing pumped I am.”
Here’s an easy tip for anyone looking to score a free tattoo in Los Angeles: Just walk into a shop, ask to use the restroom, and then casually let slip that you don’t currently have any tattoos but would really love to get something one day. Bingo! Next thing you know you’ll be in the chair, free of charge. Oh, and you should be blond. And Swedish. And drop-dead gorgeous. In other words, it’s probably best to be Malin Akerman.
Of course, for Akerman, seizing opportunities like this is what it’s all about. After her parents moved from Stockholm to Canada when she was a child, Akerman casually pursued modeling and commercial acting as a way of having some fun and making some cash while she competed nationally in figure skating and made plans to attend college as a psychology major. Malin Åkerman has watched plenty of laid-back losers try to impress her with their cool. Smart women like her prefer a spark of curiosity. “It’s like you have a zest for life,” she says. “You’re curious about people, things, the world. And that to me shows an open mind, someone you might want to explore the world alongside.”
Åkerman plays Laurie Juspeczyk, a.k.a. Silk Spectre II, a hot-yet-very-human crime fighter in latex who kicks ass while trying to save the world, in Watchmen. Her character may be torn between quasihuman superhero Doctor Manhattan (Billy Crudup) and the brilliant, kind Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson), but in reality, this model-turned-actress has found her mate. How’d he win her over? He listened—likely in addition to everything else on Åkerman’s list of the keys to romantic success. Follow them for any chance of wooing a woman like her for yourself.
Whether a bubbly blonde bombshell in last year’s 27 Dresses, Ben Stiller’s psychotic new wife in the Farrelly brothers’ The Heartbreak Kid or a sexy crime fighting vigilante in the much anticipated comic-turned-film Watchmen (in theaters March 6), Malin Akerman is full of surprises. Arriving at our shoot at Hollywood’s legendary Roosevelt Hotel, Akerman’s warm smile and upbeat attitude are immediately contagious, but as she settles down in the makeup chair, we can’t help but be a little taken aback. While chatting with our artist, Akerman has slipped into fluent Swedish… did we mention she was born in Sweden? Oh and she’s also a former model raised in Canada who likes to sing in rock bands whenever she can find the time. Something tells us Akerman isn’t your typical beautiful big screen starlet and might just have a few more aces up her sleeve than just a pretty face.

Carla Gugino and Malin Akerman, who play mother-and-daughter superheroes in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen movie, told SCI FI Wire that they hung out off screen to work out the dynamics of their on-screen relationship–which was especially important, since the two actors’ ages are really only a few years apart.
“We probably had about three weeks to sort of just hang out together and get to know each other, and we definitely just got along right away,” Akerman said in a group interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego last weekend. “Like [Gugino] said, we have a lot of similarities in our lives and in our families that sort of brought us even closer. So we could relate these characters to things that have happened in our lives and sharing those with each other so that we knew when we were doing our scenes where that was coming from.”
The Neutrogena(R) Partnership for Skin Health, a public service initiative that partners with organizations and individuals to educate, promote advancements and explore solutions for skin health, has tapped actress Malin Akerman to educate consumers in a viral video about self-examination for skin cancer detection. As the #1 dermatologist recommended skincare brand and the leader in sun protection technology, Neutrogena(R) is committed to educating and empowering individuals about the importance of self-examinations to detect skin cancer in its earliest and most treatable stage.
The viral video, starring Akerman, shows a couple performing skin self checks to demonstrate how easy it is to engage with a loved one for early detection of skin cancer. The goal of the video is to empower consumers to take control of their health and encourage both men and women to check
themselves for skin cancer.
“The viral video shows how skin examinations can be fun, while communicating the seriousness of the skin cancer message,” said Jim Colleran, President, Neutrogena(R) Corporation. “This video is meant to create buzz, spark conversation and serve as a ‘wake-up call’ to consumers about the importance of self-examination in detecting skin cancer.”
“This video and message is something I have a passion for because I understand the importance of checking your skin for suspicious moles,” says Malin Akerman. “I recently had a suspicious mole removed from my face; I noticed it was changing shape and asked my dermatologist to examine it. I was one of the luckier ones because it wasn’t cancerous.”
