An attorney for 20th Century Fox says the studio will continue to seek an order delaying the release of Watchmen, according to The Associated Press.
U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess last week agreed with Fox that Warner Bros. had infringed its copyright by developing and shooting the film, scheduled for release March 6.
Feess said Monday he plans to hold a trial Jan. 20 to decide remaining issues.
Vince Vaughn finally is getting that tropical paradise getaway so cruelly denied to him in his dysfunctional-family holiday hit Four Christmases.
One catch: He has to share his trip to the exotic isle of Bora Bora with a bunch of married friends who are coping with rocky relationships.
The producer and Frat Pack kingpin has beckoned what has become his new crew of regular co-stars — Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and Faizon Love, plus Peter “A Christmas Story” Billingsley in his feature directing debut — for Couples Retreat, a romantic comedy due this summer.
“I had the concept a while ago, and Favreau did the first draft of the screenplay with specific actors in mind,” Vaughn says.
Bateman, hoping to patch up his union with Kristen Bell, wants to go on a therapy vacation and invites three other couples along to save costs. But instead of simply enjoying fun in the sun, the suburbanites are forced to scrutinize the states of their own marriages.
Vaughn sums up the situation: “Jason and Kristen are Type A’s struggling to have kids. Faizon and his wife have just separated, and he is dating a young girl from Foot Locker (Kali Hawk). Me and my wife (Malin Akerman of 27 Dresses) are swamped with the kids and work. Favreau and Kristin Davis are secretly not completely faithful to each other.”
As Watchmen mania reaches a fever pitch, Warner Bros. has given Splash Page a first look at another in their series of character-centric teaser posters, this time featuring Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre II.
“It was really interesting,” Ackerman laughed of the Silk Spectre costume. “You know, latex sticks to your body, it sticks like a glove. The funny thing about it is because the costume was so revealing and so form fitting; we went through a few fittings just trying to get bubbles out. There’s all these issues that you never expect because it’s not very often that you make costumes out of latex. We had a professional that works with latex all the time trying to help us out. It was an interesting process and the outcome was beautiful but uncomfortable [laughs].”
Here is a brand new poster and info about the next trailer for Watchmen.
“The second [trailer] however is on its way, attached to Quantum of Solace in theaters next Friday. Snyder says “I just saw the final version of it this morning… it’s a little bit more story, a teeny bit more like a full trailer. This is much more like ’someone’s picking off costume heroes’. You’ll get a sense of the characters plight you know, ‘we were supposed to make the world a better place… what happened to the American Dream’.” Some elements have had to be changed for the trailer, most notably Dr. Manhattan’s exposed genitals have had to be ‘defocused’ to be granted approval by the MPAA.” He also confirms a third trailer will hit early in the new year.
MySpace has revealed the eighth Video Journal for Watchmen featuring director Zack Snyder talking about why Malin Akerman and Carla Gugino kick ass in the March 6 release. You can watch the clip below.
Warner Bros. Pictures has started adding biographies for the characters inWatchmen on the film’s official website, starting with The Comedian (AKA Edward Morgan Blake) played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The biographies include a description of the character and downloads such as wallpapers and buddy icons. Malin, always the busy beauty was out and about at several events these past few days. Namely Fallout 3″ Video Game Launch, Scream 2008 and A Screening of “Filth And Wisdom” hosted by The Cinema Society. She looked smokin’ hot at all! The Scream event aired last night and I hope you got a chance to watch. The very some awesome new Watchmen footage withs tons of Malin’s Silk Spectre. I was impressed by the clip and can not wait for it to debut online. I will of course make caps. For now enjoy the pics.
